VVV-Venlo - RKC

VVV-Venlo continues to be on top form at home. Jan van Dijk’s men triumphed again for the second consecutive time and sent RKC Waalwijk home on Saturday with empty hands from Seacon Stadion – De Koel –: 3-0.

VVV-Venlo started the match with the same line up as last week against Willem II. The first opportunity at goal came after just two minutes. Ruben Schaken broke away from his defender and passed forward to the waiting Sandro Calabro, whose header went over Ohad Levita’s goal. Fifteen minutes later the first goal was a fact. Levita failed to control a free kick from Keisuke Honda and the rebound was a simple opening for Adil Auassar to round off the action and score: 1-0. This makes it three goals in three home games for the former FC Dordrecht player.

Five minutes later it was 2-0 for VVV-Venlo. With luck on his side, right back Michael Timisela had the honour of scoring the second goal. Standing in the right place at the right time, his header converted a pass from Frank van Kouwen unconsciously into a goal: 2- 0. In the first half the visitors from Waalwijk only presented any risk to VVV-Venlo once. Derk Boerrigter made an attempt from the left to reach a team-mate. His shot seemed sure to enter the goal via the far post, but a fine reaction from Kevin Begois cleared the danger.

The second half was not as spectacular as the first, with neither team seeming able to create any chances. But with eleven minutes left on the clock, Ken Leemans gave a fabulous performance to consolidate the 3-0 lead.  With a supple twisting movement he sent a corner taken by Keisuke Honda powering into the net. This 3-0 victory underlines how well VVV-Venlo are doing at home. This season they have only lost once on home turf- against Ajax-  and have remained unbeaten in all the other home matches. Next week is the last fixture before the winter break with VVV-Venlo travelling to Almelo for the match against Heracles.
